Affordable Care Act
Select the below link to shop for and/or enroll in a health insurance plan from the Federal MarketPlace. (Note: this will work in all states that have not established their own exchange – if you live in Pennsylvania, please reach out to me on Pennie.)
If you enter your annual income (which is optional), you can see if you will qualify for an “advance premium tax subsidy” which could significantly reduce the amount of monthly premium due. For those that have an income less than 250% of the Federal Poverty Limit, by selecting a “silver” plan, there could be a significant reduction in out of pocket “cost sharing” through deductibles and copays. If you are not interested in a subsidy, or know that you won’t qualify, just enter zero for the annual income.
While you can shop for policies yourself on the exchange, many people find it helpful to go through an agent/broker for assistance. There is no extra cost or charge when working with a broker, so I encourage you to reach out to me for assistance.
*** If you are an immigrant or a child of an immigrant who has been in the U.S. for less than 5 years, have little or no income and are having trouble finding affordable health insurance, please reach out to me as there is a little known provision in the Affordable Care Act that I’ve used to acquire extremely low cost health insurance for several immigrant families.
